I couldn't stand it anymore! So I made it worse. All part of the master plan.
I knew the kitchen in this house wouldn't suit my needs as soon as I saw it. Its tininess is only the beginning of its problems. It is poorly laid out, and the lack of a dishwasher means that the little counterspace that there is is taken up by the dish drying rack.
It had a breakfast nook of sorts, but that ended up being a garbage pile. (Well, a lunchbox pile.)
Half the drawers no longer slid properly... Ok, I'm done justifying my decision. Look for yourself!
Glad to see that I actually did take a few photos of the old kitchen in all its dysfunctional glory.

There was previously a cabinet above the fridge, but I had 1/2 inch too little clearance so I had to remove it before moving in. Oh, and the trees in the middle of the kitchen didn't help either, but that was temporary.
So here is my dining room just prior to the renovation...
Step 1. No more table.

How about in the shed? Yup, enough junk to build a second shed.
The problem with having neighbours on both sides is I can't get a dumpster to the back. Solution: hire the neighbour boy to help bring it all around to the front balcony.
Finally time to rip out the cabinets:

Did I say rip out cabinets, walls, ceiling? How about the floor. Under that vinyl was nice hardwood.
All I had to do was remove the subfloor held down with these bad boys.
Fortunately I'm gone for the next week, though not much is going to happen while I'm gone. When I get back it will be refinishing the floor and starting to install the first cabinets and appliances. If I get the kitchen done by July I'll be happy.
