School's out! Actually school has been out for a week, but for me this was the official kick-off. I wanted to do some special stuff this weekend so that we would feel like we were on summer vacation. Fortunately we were invited to Kayden's birthday - at an indoor climbing wall in Lasalle!
The kids took to it like little billy goats. They even avoided lava at the end and popped some corn on the trampoline. Annie is right - they ROCK!.
Finally, something positive came of all the traffic and bridge collapses in Montreal. I decided that, since we were on the island, we might as well make a day of it. We went to Jean Talon market, listened to buskers, bought a few things, wandered around. I wanted to have an easy supper tonight so I just bought a baguette, cheese, and some cherries. We were heading to our #3 choice of bridge ,(since #1 was down to 1 lane and #2 was inacessible due to an impending tunnel collapse), when I got a text from my friend FX inviting me to picnic with him and friends and family at Lafontaine Park. By incredible coincidence, I received the text as I was at a red light a block away from the park. And thanks to my foray at the market I had a picnic bag with me.
We ended up spending the day with a bunch of friends, old and new, and generally mellowing out in the park. The kids played soccer and pétanque. I'm not quite sure what I did, but we were there for 3 or 4 hours.
Finally, home for a light supper, playing in the sprinkler (oh yeah, I need to turn it off), a much needed bath, then ice cream on the front step.
Pretty much as good as it gets.
